Kavin Senapathy

Writer | Journalist | Speaker

Welcome!

I'm Kavin Senapathy, and my pronouns are she/they. I'm an award-winning independent writer, journalist, and professional speaker interested in health, food, parenting, and science. I’m also the author of THE PROGRESSIVE PARENT: HARNESSING THE POWER OF SCIENCE AND SOCIAL JUSTICE TO RAISE AWESOME KIDS, with HarperCollins/Hanover Square Press.

I’ve covered everything from biological essentialism and racism in medicine to the inner workings of autoimmune disease to why parents probably shouldn’t take their infant to a chiropractor.

I think science is amazing, which is why I often fall down rabbit holes of peer-reviewed literature. I also think the dark side of science is fascinating. Like, men spent years trying to figure out why humans menstruate and came up with preposterous hypotheses that they then actually tested. I mean, imagine coming up with a so-called "menotoxin" that seeps out of menstruating people's bodies, causing flowers to wilt. Or, like, all of the straight-up racism that masquerades as "science." In peer-reviewed literature. To this day.

Even as an elder millennial (we’re hardly kids anymore), one thing I strive to do is to always stay curious, and keep learning.

Anyhow, thanks for stopping by. Take a look around, check out my work, hit me up if you like (whether to say hi or to hire me), and stay safe out there!
